Poetry Across Generations

New Age is an organization dedicated to community events celebrating poetry across generations, bridging cultural gaps through art. New Age is youth-led and youth-centric, operating on the belief that young people are to be both seen and heard, especially in times of conflict. We are geared toward the concept that poetry, and all art forms, exist as protest, following in the footsteps of revolutionary poets such as Assata Shakur, Sonia Sanchez, and Audre Lorde, to utilize art as a way of inspiring change locally, and globally.New Age is organized by 2025 NYC Youth Poet Laureate & Howard Freshman Kai Diata Giovanni and award-winning slam & typewriter poet Jayden Antwine. New Age poetry is founded in and inspired by New York City’s dynamic poetry community, and now seeks to create a similar sense of artistic unity in the DMV area.

DJ Kamea, DJ Fola, drummer Sundiata Gittens, and organizer Kai Giovanni are all currently undergraduate students at Howard U.
